Nightly Reflections – Tuesday, October 17th, 2017

Somewhere today, someone hit a jackpot in a casino.  And they were happy.  Someplace else, someone bought their first brand new car.  And they were happy.  Elsewhere, someone proposed and their proposal was accepted.  And they were happy.  Me?  It was Maid Day, I bought a new magazine, two new books and three DVDs.  And I am happy.  🙂  It’s life’s simple pleasures that keep me moving day after day.  Sure, I’ve smiled before when I hit a jackpot and I definitely smiled last August when I bought the new RAV4 and when….ok, so, I’m 2 for 3, but still…today was a good day 😛

As I shared with you last night, the magazine was The New Yorker cuz I wanted to read that article of which I sent a link last night through the Reflections.  I don’t like reading anything lengthy online.  I’d sooner have the hard copy.  I’ve always been like that.  The two books, as I shared with you, were Tom Hanks’ new collection of stories and John Sandford’s new Virgil Flowers story.  And the three DVDs…well, I had only planned to buy one, but then I was so moved because I saw the other two that I thought I’d just buy them.  The certainty was Spiderman’s recent movie.  The second one i bought was a movie out last year that got really good reviews, was publicized through commercials at a dizzying pace, and my friends who saw it all spoke well of it, so…the movie title, Get Out.  Finally, the third one was the new animated Batman and Robin story with the voices from the original 60s Batman series.  This was the second one they created.  With Adam West having died this past year, it will be the last.  I had the first so of course I had to have the second.  Thought it was fun the voices were from the campy TV version.  And there you have it.

The cleaning folks didn’t arrive until after twelve today.  So, I was sort of a shut-in before and then couldn’t get out to do what I needed to do until they were finished.  When they left, so did I.  Ran my errands.  Came home and had a very late lunch.  While I was opening the DVDs at the kitchen counter, I had a little buddy who just needed to see what I was doing.  He heard the sounds, but he couldn’t see a thing, so on his hind legs he got and front paws landed on the countertop and he did one of his “Let me see, Let me see!” bits as he’s known to do.  Frankly, I think he’s damn cute when he does this and I was lucky to get that shot which is tonight’s pic.  Based on what a friend said and her reaction after I told her a Willy story last week, after last night’s story I shared here and then that pic of him, I have decided it’s time for a column that’s all Willy.  I’ll be writing that as the week progresses.  I’ll likely steal away to my new favorite coffee shop at some point since the weather is so damn nice!  Sounds like a plan to me 🙂

Good Houston / Yankees game on right now.  Go Astros!  Cubs and Dodgers at 8.  Maybe I’ll read a little between games 🙂  Hoping you had a great day.  And that you smiled like I did.  And still am 🙂  We’ll chat tomorrow and hopefully we’ll find something else to smile about.  Sometimes ya just gotta look around and BAM!  There it is!
